A 25-year-old Lincoln woman who lost her parental rights after fleeing to New Mexico with her 2-year-old daughter has pleaded no contest to violating a custody order.

Melissa Portillo is to be sentenced in January.

Police say that on Aug. 19, Portillo fled with the girl during a supervised visit at her apartment. Portillo was arrested the next day at a relative's home in Las Cruces, N.M., and the girl was picked up by her foster parents.

The girl has been in foster care since she was 10 months old, when she was taken out of the home on allegations that her biological parents abused drugs and had domestic violence issues.
