A plan to limit the number of lawsuits filed by Nebraska prison inmates will be heard by a legislative committee.
Members of the Judiciary Committee on Friday are scheduled to discuss Omaha Sen. Scott Lautenbaugh's bill to ban lawsuits from inmates who have filed three or more frivolous lawsuits.
The bill would prevent inmates from filing a lawsuit in state court at public expense if they have previously brought at least three cases determined by the court to be frivolous.
The measure is intended to save time and money for courts that currently handling frivolous inmate cases.
The three strike provision would apply only to lawsuits filed after the law is enacted.
