A 32-year-old Nebraska man accused of killing a maintenance worker at an Interstate 80 rest stop in Iowa will plead guilty in the case.
Published reports reveal that a bench trial for Peter Riggs, of Columbus, Neb., had been set for Tuesday, but that Riggs will instead plead guilty Monday.
Riggs is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Jeffrey McAdam in May 2010. Riggs is accused of shooting McAdam in the men's bathroom at a rest stop near Victor.
Assistant Iowa County Attorney Lou McMeen declined to tell the newspaper if Riggs would plead to a lesser charge.
