A trombone is among the Meredith Willson items donated to The Music Man Square in Mason City, Iowa.
The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that the memorabilia arrived on Tuesday after transport from California. The items were part of Meredith Willson's estate that had been held in storage by his wife, the late Rosemary Willson.
Mason City was Meredith Willson's birthplace and his model for the troubled "River City" made famous by his Broadway and movie musical triumph, "The Music Man." Seventy-six trombones in a mythical marching band were celebrated by another song.
Mason City Foundation archive committee chairwoman Barbara Johnk says the items will be assessed and entered into a computer database.
The Meredith Willson Museum opened in 2002 and is part of The Music Man Square.
