An Onawa, Iowa woman charged with drowning her 15-month-old son was in court Thursday morning.
Police say 25-year-old Ashley Cameron killed Markis Dahms on February 11th, but tried to cover it up as a medical emergency. Cameron remains in the Monona County Jail on $1 million bond. She'll be due back in court in a few weeks.

Cameron also has a 2-year-old daughter. Abigail was removed from the home shortly after her brother’s death and is staying with Cameron's mother.
Investigators say Cameron planned her son's death. After an autopsy was conducted by the state medical examiner, the cause of death was found to be drowning, the manner homicide. “He was in the bathtub and his face was being held under the faucet and his mouth and nasal cavity filled with water,” said Mitch Mortvedt, special agent in charge.
Simpson said even though Cameron claimed it was an accident, her actions after Markis' death were disturbing. "She went to the bars every night. Tim and I would walk uptown every night, we'd see her at the bar and she would talk about it right then and my dad lost a daughter and he can't even talk about it now and that's 16 years later, but Ashley could talk about it like it's okay.”
During Thursday’s arraignment, Simpson said the look she got from Cameron was chilling. "The look of death, like she was going to kill me and it was scary. She gave it to everybody."
