Mother and Newborn Doing Well After Crash Prompted Delivery

A mother who was 9 months pregnant found herself suddenly strewn into delivering the baby after being involved in a car accident Thursday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., 32-year-old Emily Klug was driving east on West Center Road near 146th Street when another driver turned in front of her vehicle.

She was not injured, but her water broke as a result of the crash.

Rescue crews began the delivery process as Klug was taken to Methodist Women's hospital by ambulance.

Roger Alan Klug was born at 8:25 p.m. on Thursday, weighing in at 7 lbs, 9 oz. He is 20.5" long.

On Friday, Klug and the baby were doing well.
