More Time Behind Bars

Sentencing for Buccaneer Bay man who is already serving time in the Nebraska Department of Corrections. The sentencing was on two misdemeanors stemming from an incident last September involving 25-year-old Jared Rye.

The Cassgram reports Rye still faces felony charges in Cass County District Court and in the Hall County court system for other incidents in 2010.

Rye had originally faced four misdemeanor charges for leading law enforcement on a chase from Plattsmouth to Buccaneer Bay on September 10th. Rye pleaded guilty to two of the charges—DUI 2nd offense and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.

Cass County Court Judge John Steinheider sentenced Rye to 180 days for the DUI and 365 days for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest. The sentences are to run concurrently.

Rye is currently serving a 1 to 3 year sentence in state prison after pleading no contest to felony flight to avoid arrest in western Nebraska. He was arrested and then convicted in Lincoln County after a 150 mile chase following a convenience store robbery in Alda, Nebraska last November. There is a Class II Felony case still active in Hall County for his alleged part in the Alda incident.
