David Johnson of Council Bluffs, Iowa received a red letter demand that he pay for parking violations in New Orleans. Johnson said he has never been to New Orleans in his life. Johnson said,” I think there was a computer glitch down there.”
Johnson received a warning letter that he owes for two meter violations in September. Both are $80.00 and that penalty could grow if the fines are taken care of soon.
Johnson said, “I’m afraid I may get another notice and they might get somebody after me.”
Instead Six On Your Side went to the New Orleans mayor’s office for answers.
A spokesperson for Mayor Mitch Landrieu said the past due tickets were for an Arkansas vehicle registered to someone with a similar name. The mayor’s director of public relations Mary Beth Romig said, “By bringing this to our attention we were able to resolve the situation for Mr. Johnson.”
The notice of violations came on Christmas Eve so word its all been straightened out is an added gift for the holidays said David Johnson.
