The Fire Chief told WOWT 6 News it was a propane explosion; however, the investigation is still open to determine the circumstances leading up to the explosion.
A home explosion Monday night jolted the town of Missouri Valley. Neighbors described seeing flames 40 to 50 feet in the air.
Just after ten o'clock Sunday night, a home exploded on Highway 30, near Melrose Lane on the east side of town.
The Missouri Valley Fire Department is working with the State Fire Marshall to figure out what sparked the fire.
Missouri Valley Fire Chief Johnnie Walker tells Channel Six News the debris and the hole that remains, where the explosion took place, is too hot for crews to sift through to search for clues. They should have a better idea of what happened Tuesday afternoon.
No one was injured and no one was living in the home at the time of the fire.
