A one-time Congressional candidate and former Omaha television newsman has been arrested on allegations of domestic violence. Michael Scott’s girlfriend says the 58-year-old Scott punched her several times last weekend.
The woman tells police that the couple went to see the movie Flight at Aksarben Theatres last Friday. After the movie, she stated that she did not like the movie. At that point, Scott allegedly punched and pushed her.
The woman said later that evening the two got into a disturbance again at their home. Scott allegedly said, “It’s time for you to die like O.J.”, referring to the O.J. Simpson and Nicole Brown Simpson case.
Scott then left, but returned just after midnight Saturday morning. At that point, the woman says Scott put her in a headlock. She alleges he began to rip out her fingernails and punch her in the face.
An officer reports seeing swelling to the woman’s left eye area and he could see that two fingernails on her right hand appeared to be ripped off.
The woman went to police with allegations around 4:20 p.m. Saturday. After talking to the alleged victim, officers attempted to contact Scott at his place of employment, but were unable to locate him.
He turned himself in to police on Thursday.
Scott ran an unsuccessful campaign for Congress in 1998. He lost to Lee Terry who still holds the seat.
