In the meantime fans are gearing up for the post season.

The excitement before the game sounds the same but it feels different. Maverick hockey is on the verge of taking the next step forward.

Lisa Franke says, "Their fate is in their own hands because if they win and others lose they could definitely be sitting in the first seed."

So this series with Denver means a little more and the fans know it.

More fans, more flags, and louder cheers hopefully lead to another Maverick victory.

George Callara has confidence in the Mavs because he has seen them do it before.

George Callara says, "Scored at the very last second and it was the best thing in the whole wide world. We were jumping up and down screaming and I know they can keep on doing that."

Students were encouraged to go to the game with free movie passes but that was not necessary for Cole Hartfiel. Cole decided to attend every hockey game during his senior year and he has a perfect record.

Hartfiel says he has seen the intensity of the fans grow through the season.

Cole Hartfiel says, "At the start it was just normal it has picked up a little bit I know listening to the crowd attendance it has grown a little bit. The Wisconsin game last week or the week before that was amazing I'm really glad that many people came out it felt really nice."

It felt like the home ice at the Qwest is supposed to feel comfortable and ready to take the Mavs to the next level.
