A man lost his right hand and will likely to lose a foot after being dragged 400 feet by a train in Lincoln Saturday morning.
The 23-year-old tried to coax a puppy out from underneath a stationary Burlington Northern Santa Fe train around 2 a.m. Police say the man was with a woman and two dogs when one of the dogs ran under the train. The man was reaching under the train to try to get the puppy when the train started moving.
The woman was able to flag down someone in the train, but the man's right hand was severed and he suffered severe damage to his right arm, left leg and foot.
The puppy was unhurt.
