Gunfire rang out in the area of 28th and Poppleton in Omaha early Sunday morning, striking a man and an SUV.
Police stopped a vehicle at 30th and Leavenworth around 2:30 a.m. It turned out the driver, 21-year-old Kevin Mejia, had been shot in the hand and was driving himself to the hospital. Mejia told police he was walking when a black Cadillac drove by and someone inside fired several shots.
Officers then checked the crime scene and found a Chevy Tahoe had also been struck by bullets. The owner of the vehicle was on the scene.
Police found the black Cadillac parked on Park Avenue, but no one was inside. The vehicle was towed and police are still investigating.
