Omaha Police have identified the victim and the suspect involved in a late night murder. The victim, 24-year old Ryan O'Donnell, was found with stab wounds outside of a South Omaha Home just after midnight Friday.
The crime was reported at 6018 S. 40th Street. Police were able to locate suspect 23-year old Anthony Utterback a short time later. He was arrested and booked for 2nd degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
O'Donnell was taken to Creighton University Medical Center where he died of his wounds.
Police said the victim probably knew the suspect prior to the incident.
Neighbors were shocked to hear of the incident. Consuelo Rodriquez said, “I just can’t believe it still. It’s crazy because it’s a quiet area, so for it to happen here, it’s just, wow.”
Rodriquez said O’Donnell used to play catch with her boys and he was a kind neighbor. She didn’t hear anything going on overnight.
Neighbor Jim Owen said, “It’s horrible for the victim and the family.” Channel 6 did reach out to the family. They said they did not have a comment.
