The man who died after falling through the ice on a private pond has been identified.
The Adair County Sheriff's Department says 62-year-old James Wallace of Menlo, Iowa fell through the ice of a gravel pit in northern Adair County on Friday night. His body was recovered Saturday morning.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Eric Sansgaard says recent warmer temperatures have made ice conditions unpredictable and urged caution on and around ice on lakes and ponds.
