A young man is dead following a bizarre incident in rural Washington county.
Seth Johnson, 23, was killed at a party after apparently being run over by a pickup, according to the sheriff's office.
Captain Kevin Willis tells Channel Six News a call came into 911 dispatch around 5 a.m. Sunday. The accident happened in the driveway of 1951 County Road A just outside of Uehling.
Capt. Willis explained it's believed that Johnson and a group of friends attended a tractor pull near Tekamah and then decided to head to the acreage near Uehling.
Investigators tell WOWT 6 News, Johnson fell asleep behind and under a 2006 Dodge pickup truck in the driveway during the party. The driver of the truck, 29-year-old Jason Parcel, told deputies he had no idea anyone was under the the truck. Parcel remained at the scene and was tested for alcohol use but those results are pending in the investigation. Everyone at the scene is cooperating with authorities.
An ambulance was dispatched to the address and transported Johnson to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Captain Willis said, "This is a strange and very tragic incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with all the families involved."
Funeral arrangements for Johnson have been set for Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper.
