For the first time, the 5 major candidates for Omaha mayor shared the same stage. Monday night they were the guests of the Metropolitan Omaha Property Owners Association.

It was a big crowd. A couple hundred people packed into the Westside Community Center.

It wasn't a debate, but more like a discussion. Each candidate received on question in advance. Every candidate had the opportunity to respond.

The candidates who attended were Mayor Jim Suttle, former council president Dan Welch, state senator Brad Ashford, businessman Dave Nabity and city councilwoman Jean Stothert.

The questions covered several topics from labor contracts to private industry regulations.

The primary is in April where the candidate list will be narrowed to two. The general election is in May. Officially, it is a non-partisan race.
