The thump, thump, thump sound of music was just one clue that trouble was brewing in the Rockford Lake Area of Gage County Saturday night.

Several people called officials after hearing the music and observing several people gathering around a bonfire on the property. They also believed the property may have been owned by a bank, so no one would have had permission to be there.

When deputies arrived, they observed several people were in possession of alcohol. They stopped one vehicle as it left the area and found a minor who was in possession. As they investigated further, deputies found that everyone they contacted at the gathering was under the legal age to possess alcohol.

Seven minors were cited and the alcohol that was on the scene was disposed of at the location. Those who were under 18 years of age were released to their parents. Everyone who is older than 18 was released to a sober driver.

On Monday, the Gage County sheriff’s office received a tip of a possible person who provided the alcohol to the minors. Carrie A. Colson, a 25-year-old from Beatrice, was cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The Gage County Sheriff says everyone is encouraged to report underage drinking by calling 402-223-5221 or contact the Gage County MIP hotline at 1-866-Must-B-21.
