A consultant will study privatization as an option for Lincoln's public bus service.
Minneapolis-based SRF Consulting Group have been awarded a nearly $105,000 contract for a management study that includes a look at privatizing StarTran.
Published reports reveal that Phoenix, Las Vegas and other cities have at least portions of their bus service run by private companies.
City Councilman Adam Hornung says the study doesn't mean Lincoln's bus service will go private.
SRF Consulting also will study StarTran's operations, management, fare system and alternative revenue sources.
