A Lincoln woman who kicked a Fremont police officer was given a short stint in jail and probation.
Dodge County District Court Judge Geoffrey Hall sentenced 23-year-old Melinda Hofstetter to 90 days in jail and 2 years of probation for third-degree assault of a police officer.
The jail sentence was suspended based on a court review in January. Hall ordered Hofstetter, though, to serve 7 days in jail beginning Monday.
Hofstetter was arrested at a Fremont bowling center after she kicked one officer in the back and slapped another in the chest while they were arresting her boyfriend. Hofstetter and her boyfriend caused a disturbance after Hofstetter lost her coat in the bowling alley.
As part of her probation, Hofstetter was ordered to have outpatient treatment and attend Alcohol Anonymous meetings. She also must perform 120 hours of community service, attend an anger management program and give written and verbal apologies to the officers.
