A 46-year-old Julie Nieto from Lincoln has been given six months in jail for forging a check from her former employer.

Last week she was sentenced after pleading no contest to one count of forgery after making a deal with prosecutors.

Court records say the owner of Gargoyle Roofers told police that
Nieto had been office manager of the business but had been fired
and didn't have authorization to write checks on the account.

She wrote a payroll check for more than $1,400 that she cashed in
April.

She wrote a second check for nearly $35,000. She passed that check at a bank in May.
