The Lincoln Journal Star says the city took the first step on Wednesday toward banning new clubs.
The Lincoln Lancaster-County Planning Commission voted to recommend changing the zoning code to
prohibit "sexually oriented live entertainment establishments" in the downtown business district.
The proposed change now goes to the City Council, whose initial approval of downtown strip club started
the effort to change the law.
The council last month allowed the strip club to relocate to a vacant space.
The club later withdrew its application, but efforts
to change the zoning law continued.
Supporters say downtown Lincoln has changed, with more family-oriented entertainment available.
