Hundreds were expected to gather Sunday evening to celebrate Diwali, considered by many to be the biggest and brightest of all Indian celebrations.

The event included classical and folk dances, traditional foods and displays of light.

Most families will also celebrate the tradition, which originated in Ancient India by decorating their homes and sharing sweets with friends and neighbors.

In different parts of India, Diwali is celebrated for different periods of time but the final day of this year's celebration is on November 13th.
