A 20-year-old Lincoln man who acknowledged sexual contact with a 12-year-old who later died of a drug overdose has been given up to eight years in prison.
Andrew Walker had pleaded no contest to child abuse and attempted sexual assault. He was sentenced on Wednesday.
Authorities say Walker acknowledged having sexual contact with Serena Garrett just hours before she died in March.
Ashley Jackson, who asked Garrett to babysit her infant twins, is charged with child abuse in the case. Jackson's pleaded not guilty and faces trial in February.
Court records say Jackson brought Walker and the two teen boys to her home and supplied them with alcohol and drugs. After Jackson left, Garrett took painkillers, had sexual contact with Walker and fell unconscious. Jackson found her the next day.
