Ricardo Omar Hernandez, 36, is being charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine and 5 grams or more of actual methamphetamine between January of 2011 and February of 2013.
The possible penalty is no less than 10 years and up to life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000,000. Following any prison term, there would be a term of supervised release of not less than five years. The indictment also seeks forfeiture of $12,914.00 in cash.
Hernandez appeared in federal court in Lincoln on June 25, 2013, and was ordered held without bond. Trial is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2013.
The matter was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force, which includes officers of the Lincoln Police Department, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI), and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department.
