Lincoln's city-wide bus service is providing more training to its employees after a driver was accused of attacking a rider. StarTran Bus Service employees participated in an all-day session Thursday that included diversity training.
Public Works and Utilities Department Director Miki Esposito hopes to find money to better train drivers on how to handle difficult situations with passengers.
A surveillance video released earlier this month showed Troy Fischer punching a passenger repeatedly on March 23rd. He was also seen dragging the passenger off the bus.
Fischer was cited for misdemeanor assault and was later fired. His attorney, Sean Reagan, said he anticipates similar criminal charges by the Lancaster County Attorney's Office. Reagan said his client has no comment at this time.
