A lightning strike sparked an explosion at a Grand Island food processing plant Thursday night.
The fire was first reported at 7:45 p.m. JBS Swift and Co. officials say a bolt of lightning struck the tarp on a waste water lagoon on the property. The lagoon collects bio-gas, which is used for alternative fuel at Swift.
The company says the fire was mostly contained about an hour after it started, and there were no injuries to people or animals. There was no interruption in business.
