Goodwill Industries, Inc. will host its Legacy of Hope recognition event on Thursday, April 12th.
The evening begins at 5 p.m., and will be held in the Durham Room at Goodwill's Benson Park Plaza headquarters.
This special evening of community recognition will induct two new Goodwill Hall of Fame honorees, Charles V. Sederstrom, Jr. and Wayne E. Simmonds, recognize the 2011 Person of Goodwill John E. Gottschalk, and acknowledge outgoing and incoming Board leadership.
Chuck Sederstrom joined Goodwill’s Board of Trustees in February, 1994. He served on the Marketing and Strategic Planning Committees and chaired the Board in 2000 and 2001. He became a Life Member in 2005. Chuck was active as an adviser to Goodwill's 2008 capital campaign.
Wayne Simmonds joined the Board in December, 1982, and chaired the Operations Committee for several years. He was voted a life member in 2001. He was active in the 2008 capital campaign, serving on the campaign corporate committee.
The Person of Goodwill Award is given to an area professional or community volunteer who exhibits leadership in advocating for the needs of people with disabilities and social and economic hardships.
Gottschalk is the retired chief executive officer and publisher of the Omaha World-Herald. He was the national president of the Boy Scouts of America from 2008 to 2010. He and his wife, Carmen, are known for their philanthropy.
