The streets of La Vista are being plowed by works of art. The city's 12 snow blades have been painted with different designs.

One has big eyes, another features the Peanuts gang. There's also one with a big flame that's sure to heat up discussion from passing motorists.

La Vista spokesman Mitch Beaumont said the blades were scheduled for painting this winter anyway. So using extra paint in the shop, public works employees decided to be creative. Beaumont said reaction from residents has been positive. After all, how often do you see Snoopy cutting through a snow drift?

Although the snow emergency has ended, La Vista residents are still asked, if possible, to refrain from parking on the street to allow plows to clear streets from curb to curb.

“The snow operation went rather well, the wind cooperated, residents in general stayed home and most cars were off the street," said La Vista Public Works Director Joe Soucie.
