The La Vista Police Department recently concluded a special enforcement campaign targeting safety belt and child restraint violations.
The Click It or Ticket operation ended December 1 and involved a total of 32 hours worked by officers, during which time a total of 65 traffic contacts were made and three citations were issued for safety belt violations. During the operation the department recorded a rise in seatbelt usage from 93 percent to 95 percent based on pre- and post-operation surveys.
The enforcement campaign was designed to enhance motorist’s awareness of safety belt and child restraint laws. The additional patrols were funded through a grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
