It won't be the usual birthday celebration for Jayden Olson of Omaha.
On Monday she turns 8 years old but rather than the usual excitement about birthday gifts, Jayden is thinking about other people who really need help.
"I'm not trying to receive presents for me," she explained in an interview with WOWT 6 News. "I'm just trying to get presents for Pilger."
Jaden, with help from her parents, is spearheading an effort to raise needed items for the tornado victims in Pilger.
"We passed out these flyers asking for help in the neighborhood with my nannies, my parents and my brother."
The generous response of donated items has been piling up in the family's garage.
"Couches, we got three large pieces of furniture," Jayden exclaimed. "Next Monday we're taking things to Pilger."
The family will continue to collect donations through Sunday July 20.
Items needed include: furniture, household goods, personal hygiene products, clothing, and money for gift cards.
