Kids Get a Dose of Hands-On Learning

Students at Fontenelle Elementary School learned a lot about science and math in a carnival-like atmosphere Thursday.

It was all due to the STEM Games:

  • Science
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • Math

Teachers set up seven stations or activities in which students could participate. They ranged from math problems to dealing with robotics.

Event Organizer Anthony Galdamez said, “We did it so that every station they walk away with something. So they can walk away with something in their hand and walk away with that knowledge as well. They have tons of things they haven't been exposed to yet as smaller children. If you miss something in class you can pick it up here and kind of just run with the idea.”

The school also held a science fair where student projects were displayed and judged.
