The leading killer of men and women in the United States is heart disease.

Experts at the Mayo Clinic say 80-percent of heart disease cases are preventable. Now they have tips to help Americans lower their risk.

In a new book titled, "Mayo Clinic Healthy Heart For Life," cardiologists say Americans can quick start their heart health by remembering these three things: eat five, sleep eight, move ten.

Rather than focusing on what you can't eat when trying to improve your health, they suggest focusing on what you can eat: five fruits and vegetables a day.

Sleeping eight hours or more can significantly lower the risk for heart disease, and it can help you lose weight.

Finally, just ten minutes of moderate activity a day can have a huge impact on your heart health.

Experts say even making a point to stand -- rather than sit -- as often as possible can help your heart.
