Johanns extended the invitation in a letter sent this week to Janet Napolitano, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Napolitano is scheduled to visit Minot, N.D., and surrounding areas on Wednesday to tour flood damage.
In his letter, Johanns says there "is simply no substitute"
for seeing the flooding damage firsthand and the hardship it has
Johanns' request to visit Nebraska follows a letter he sent with
13 other senators last Friday calling for a full Senate hearing to
examine the management along the Missouri River prior to this
summer's historic flooding.
