Job Outlook Improves Slightly In Rural Area

Job outlook slightly better south of the metro. According to the Nebraska Workforce Development-Department of Labor report, the February (preliminary) unemployment rate in Cass County was 5.2%.

The Cassgram reports the breakdown: Cass County Civilian Labor Force: 13,686; Number Employed: 12,969; Not Employed 717

The February rate was three-tenths of a percentage point lower than the January rate. The rate was at 4.2% in December and at 3.7% in both November and October.

The county unemployment was at 5.9% in February of 2012.

The February 2013 rates from neighboring counties with the change from a year earlier in [ ]: Otoe 4.6% [-0.5], Lancaster 3.8% [-0.3], Saunders 4.8% [-0.7] and Sarpy 4.1% [-0.4].

Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for February was 3.8%, the same as January’s rate. The February 2012 state unemployment rate was 4.0%.

The national unemployment rate in February was 7.7%, down 0.2 from January. In 2012, the February national unemployment rate was 8.3%.
