More than a hundred people took advantage of a job forum Monday to fill out an application with a local labor union and the Walmart that is currently under construction near 56th and Ames in Omaha.
The event called "Jobs, Jobs, Jobs," was sponsored by a number of local organizations including the Omaha NAACP and the 24th Street Merchants Association.
"This was a very real deal," said event organizer Preston Love Jr. in an interview with WOWT 6 News.
"I'm very pleased with the turnout and very pleased with the companies because they weren't just talking, they're presenting real opportunities for our community."
The new Walmart is expected to open next spring and employ approximately 300 workers.
