A 33-year-old Council Bluffs man has been given 30 years in prison for killing an Omaha man.
Christopher Hyde was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the March 8th shooting of 44-year-old Robert Chapin III of Omaha. After making a deal with prosecutors, he pleaded guilty Tuesday to willful injury, intimidation with a weapon and assault while participating in a felony.
Hyde was given 10 years on each conviction and the sentences are to be served consecutively.
Investigators said Chapin and Hyde had gotten into an argument, which ended with gunshots. Chapin was hit in a foot and head. He was dead when officers arrived.
In court, Hyde said he was sorry and that things had gotten out of hand that night.
