Major project to impact interstate drivers.
Starting Monday (3/18) the U.S. Highway 6 Bridge over Interstate 80 will be closed for four consecutive nights between 10pm and 6am to allow the I-80 westbound bridge to be removed, if weather permits.
Detours in the area will be marked.
The Cassgram also reports Head-to-head traffic on I-80 for major work into Lincoln this construction season — Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin Sunday evening (3/17) after 11pm to divert westbound traffic on Interstate 80 from the westbound lanes now being used onto two lanes of the recently completed eastbound lanes of I-80, between reference posts 405 and 412. Traffic will be diverted in this area over night Sunday and it is anticipated that two lanes of traffic in each direction will be open by 6am on Monday (3/18).
Concrete barriers will then be used to separate eastbound and westbound traffic. A 55 mph speed limit will be in place throughout the entire length of the project while traffic is in the head-to-head mode.
