Interstate Bridges Taking Shape In Council Bluffs

New bridge supports tower over interstate traffic at the west I-80/I-29 interchange in Council Bluffs. The entire interstate system in Council Bluffs is being transformed to handle more traffic more efficiently.

“Well it depends if it's traffic hour. Like in the mornings, it can be really hectic,” says Omaha truck driver Mark Hintz. “And the evenings are really hectic. I'm glad they're improving this. It was long overdue.”

When the project is complete, as many as twelve lanes will carry interstate traffic through the area where I-29 and I-80 come together.

But until then, drivers need to pay attention, a pack a little patience.

“Everything was bottled up, the way they had that set up out there,” Hintz said. “The new way they're setting it up is a lot better. It will be a lot more efficient.”

There is no set time line on when the project will be finished. For more information on the project click on the link below.
