Omaha is, once again, on its way to the international spotlight. The Omaha Sports Commission announce Tuesday that the city will host the 2013 Norceca Women's Continental Championship this September.
Volleyball teams from ten different countries will spend six days in Omaha for the tournament. The U.S. Women's Head Couch Karch Kiraly says this is a great opportunity to see the country's number one ranked team play.
“Really hard-working athletes who've worked their way up to the number one ranked team in the world," said Kiraly. "Yet we get almost no opportunities to play on U.S. Soil and show people what the program is about.”
Kiraly added the tournament sets the tone leading into the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.
The tournament hasn't taken place in Omaha for 20 years. Officials said tickets will go on sale April 15th.
