An Iowa inmate awaiting trial on child sex abuse charges is now accused of trying to have his wife and children killed.
The 36-year-old Davenport man now faces solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy charges. He has been in the Scott County Jail for a year awaiting trial on 10 child sex abuse and related charges. Scott County Sheriff's Department Lt. Bryce Schmidt says the man tried to hire someone to set fire to his home with his family inside because he did not want his family to testify against him on the sex abuse charges.
Schmidt said the inmate sent a map of his home's floor plan to a person he thought was a hit man, but was actually an undercover investigator.
