Update: Injuries From Morning Commute Crashes
At least two people were injured as the result of two separate crashes during Tuesday's morning commute in the Omaha Metro.
One involved a motorcycle and a vehicle at 84th & Giles. Investigators told Channel 6 News that the motorcycle driver turned in front of the car. Both drivers had the green light.
The motorcyclist has been identified as a 57-year-old Mark Grieco. He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center, via helicopter, in critical condition, police say he is expected to recover. The driver of the car, a 28-year-old Meghan Engberg, was taken to Midlands Hospital as a precaution.
Giles Road was closed for some time while an accident reconstruction team was on the scene.
In a second crash, dispatchers told emergency crews that a 12-year-old boy had been hit by a vehicle at 172 & Q. Dispatchers also quoted witnesses as saying the child was up and limping around, an indication that injuries in this case may not have been very serious.
