In its third year, Husker Heroes attracted a record number of people signing up for the event, with about a thousand gathering at the Hawks Championship Center on Sunday evening.
Ethan Barber is a ten year-old with Autism Spectrum Disorder, something that can make certain aspects of his life more challenging. On Sunday, Barber had a little help from his Husker Heroes.
Ethan's mother, Gina, says the event provided more than just fun for her son. "It's an opportunity to learn some social skills by interacting with athletes," said Barber.
Organizers say Husker Heroes was created to allow those with special needs and their families to spend time with their favorite athletes.
