It's not just Nebraska. Several schools around the country have recently witnessed a rise in the distribution of counterfeit football tickets for college games.
On Wednesday, UNL issued a warning to fans to be on the lookout for fake tickets and reminded everyone to be cautious if purchasing tickets for the game from sources other than the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office or Huskers.com.
Fans with questions regarding ticket availability for Husker football or any Nebraska athletic event should contact the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-8-BIG RED or 402-472-3111.
At the Nebraska-Wisconsin game in Lincoln on September 29th, Nebraska officials discovered 18 counterfeit tickets had been sold on Craigslist for that game and those with the invalid tickets were unable to enter the stadium.
“We believe the incident with counterfeit tickets at the Nebraska-Wisconsin game was an isolated situation. My recommendation to fans would always be to know who the seller is before you buy tickets from an outside source,” said Nebraska Assistant A.D. for Ticketing Holly Adam.
Nebraska is set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its NCAA record sellout streak at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night when the Huskers take on Michigan in a Big Ten Legends Division match-up.
The sold-out game will mark the 323rd consecutive sellout at Memorial Stadium, a streak that dates back to 1962.
