Authorities have apprehended a fugitive who was hiding in a wooded area of northwest Nebraska woods. Justin Pierce was captured Wednesday under a pile of hay near Whitney in Dawes County.
Dawes County Sheriff Karl Dailey said earlier that officers spoke with Pierce through an unidentified go-between to get him to surrender.
The hunt for Pierce began Monday evening when officers tried to serve him with Nevada and Utah arrest warrants. Pierce escaped in a pickup that was found later near the woods.
Dailey said Pierce had some military training that may have prepared him for the cold and the wilderness conditions.
