A home buying project provides financial assistance to eligible, first-time home buyers. Its called the Senca Homes Project.
Down-payment assistance of up to 20% of the total purchase price, with a maximum of $15,000, is available through a below market-rate, deferred loan. During the first two years of the loan there is no interest accrual and no payment required. Beginning in year three, interest accrues at 1% and payments begin.
Buyers are also eligible for a grant of up to $15,000 to complete required repairs to the home. The Cassgram said eligible repairs include, but are not limited to: doors and windows; electrical; roof, soffit and fascia; plumbing systems; floors, walls, and ceilings; foundation; central heat; and insulation.
The program is available to assist first-time homebuyers within Cass, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, & Richardson Counties.
