Motorists in northwest Iowa and much of Nebraska could encounter heavy winds on their drives home from Thanksgiving activities.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for nearly of all of Nebraska and a swath of Iowa stretching from Sioux City to Fort Dodge.
The service says winds in Nebraska could gust to 45 MPH on Thursday afternoon before slowly dying down overnight.
The wind advisory for Nebraska expires at 6 p.m. on Thursday and 6 a.m. on Friday for Iowa.
Temperatures are also expected to drop by as many as 30 degrees in much of Iowa by Friday.
