Tomorrow is expected to be a big day for retailers across the country but it's not just people using gift cards we're talking about. A lot of people will be out making returns.

Tuesday most mall parking lots were empty as the stores were closed for the holiday. But movie theater parking lots were full as people took the opportunity to spend some time with their family.

Micki Indrika brought her whole family to see a movie. They celebrated Christmas this weekend and say they have no gifts to return this year because they planned ahead.

“Just making sure that everybody got what they wanted, asking them exactly what they wanted,” said Indrika.

Cheryl and David Rodenburg have a similar story.

“We usually mention little hints here and there as to what we would like,” said Cheryl.

“I guess I do have a dress belt that I need to take back. But we're not going be rushing back,” said David.

They are with the majority. The National Retail Federation says 65% of those surveyed won't be returning any gifts this year but that doesn't mean they won't go out and shop tomorrow. Good news for those who need to make a return, 62% of those surveyed say they included a gift receipt with their presents.

If you do have to return something, every store has a different return policy. Some require gift receipts, others will give you a store credit and most have a 90 day return policy. Many stores are planning after Christmas sales.

A few words of advice from the NRF: make a list, keep all your receipts, make sure all gifts are in their original packaging with tags and most importantly have patience.
