A driver was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident after he allegedly took off after hitting a pedestrian in Lincoln Saturday morning.
Witnesses told police a westbound pickup didn't stop after striking the pedestrian at the intersection of Centennial Mall and O Street just before 1:30 a.m. A Nebraska State Patrol trooper stopped the truck minutes later near Highway 34 and Fletcher, suspecting 26-year-old Derek Hoefling of being intoxicated.
The pedestrian was hospitalized with injuries not thought to be life threatening.
