Bergan Mercy Medical Center is in the honor spotlight. The Alegent Health hospital was awarded the Pathway to Excellence designation on Monday.
The honor comes from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
It means that the facility is nationally recognized for nurses to learn, achieve and contribute to an overall, better bedside-care experience.
Bergan Mercy Medical Center President Marie Knedler said this means, "that they are part of decision-making. So, shared governance is very much a part of this but the ability to impact direct care at the bedside, their ability to do that, is key to having a Pathway designation."
Bergan is the first health care facility in Nebraska to earn the designation.
